CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Name: The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (he represents the entire kingdom, though by himself he is just England. Also will answer to Britain or the name of the country in other languages. He is presumably the only brother that attends world conferences, so the other countries have come to know him as the UK, while he is called England by his brothers) / Arthur Kirkland
Series: Hetalia: Axis Powers
Canon Point: 1943
History Link: character wiki page, and some WWII notes
Personality: To most people, England is seen as cold and obstinate, maybe even a bit troublesome. He is, in fact, unyielding in his beliefs (especially if he hates you, at which point he will always try to prove you wrong). England can be seen as hardworking and rigid; he will always finish a job, no matter how pointless, to you, it may seem. He will lecture anyone who questions his methods. He is rather old-fashioned and likes it that way.
No one is perfect, however. England the supposed straight-man gentleman can be rather nasty when drunk and he will hold grudges forever. He absolutely hates to lose. He has no problem calling you every name under the sun. When he was younger, he was a vicious pirate who tormented weaker countries like Spain. He is also a closet pervert (and a masochist). While most of his views on the world are pessimistic, England also tends to be romantic. He likes to keep his outward appearance very tidy and refined. But inside, he's a total punk. He does not fully comprehend the significance of death, and he may even look down on humans because he figures they are weak, inferior beings.
England seems as though he doesn't mind being alone and not having many friends. There is a lot of work to be done, after all, and having few people around means he won't be bothered. Actually, he really is lonely (see: tsundere) and pathetic. When he does make friends (and this may take a while, since he has a difficult time not only with trusting people, but also expressing his true feelings), England is very loyal. He will throw himself into learning about them, and sometimes will give them gifts. If he feels he has been betrayed, he may never forgive you.
At the current time he is taken from, Britain is a strong world power. He is an Empire that captured and colonized other countries. He knows a lot about fighting and tactics, and has spent ample time on the battlefield. He is used to not only giving commands, but also taking them. He wants to be strong, but is stronger when he has something he wants to protect, or someone to guide him. Though he is very distant in his feelings, when he is fighting or working, he prefers to take things head-on. No nonsense. He doesn't need anything fancy or extra.
While England has won many wars on his own, it should be noted that he is weak-willed and sometimes even naive when preparing for battle. This can be seen in both the Revolutionary War (England threw down his musket and refused to fight America when he came face to face with him, breaking down on the battlefield), as well as the beginning of World War II (England refused to enter the war for a long time, refused to help France because it did not view Germany as a threat. Though this is not Hetalia canon). The point is that England cannot always make rational decisions on his own. He lets his emotions get the better of him and often needs prodding and supervision to move in the right direction, though he may not always take suggestions, even if they could possibly be in his favor.
Relying only on himself has made him a bit of a loner. England is cynical and stubborn to the point where he will refuse to back down to anyone. This standoffish attitude prevents him from getting close to most people. England is also very superstitious, believing in fairies, unicorns, ghosts, and strange legends. He is a terrible cook, he drinks far too much, and he is always losing things. Although he was once a pirate and has a fantastic navy, he cannot swim. At all. He doesn't work out much, so he is very thin and smaller than a lot of the other European countries.
England is afraid of letting people down. He constantly needs to be reassured that he is useful, that people care about him (don't ever assume he knows or should know), though he has a difficult time expressing his own feelings. He often boasts about how powerful he is, yet, in reality, he has little confidence in himself in regards to other people.
His relationship with America (and certain other countries) also may be considered a weakness. He would never admit to this.
All in all, England is full of contradictions...
Powers: Being a country, England is practically immortal. He can take bullet and stab wounds, survive poisons and plagues as long as his citizens are loyal to him. He had a rough childhood, but learned the art of politics and war quickly; he is proficient with a sword and a good speaker.
Tactics may be England's biggest forte. He is very good at preparing for anything beforehand, whether it be war or a meeting, or even something as simple as going grocery shopping. He is also an excellent spy and has, on several occasions, disguised himself in order to get closer to his enemies (he can play a very convincing woman, and he is proud of it). England has a sharp wit and an even sharper tongue. He is the king of sarcasm.
Other things England is good at are knitting/embroidering and acting. He is a fantastic singer and knows how to be sexy, but he is also good at keeping himself reserved. He knows magic (both black and white), healing spells, and also can summon strange beings. He knows several languages (his French is fluent, followed by Spanish and German, and a little Japanese and Italian).
Other Details: don't think so...
SAMPLES
This is quite the long thread. Though it does cover practically every part of his personality, from his stubbornness to his more gentle side.
Any Concerns: I understand that the time I'm taking England from can be controversial. I will not try to force my beliefs or CR on other players if they don't want to play with me.
